The Location
Crane Court Gallery is a new art gallery, cultural hub and entertaining space located just off Fleet Street in the heart of the EC4 district of the historic City of London.
Crane Court has had many famous residents over the centuries.
From 1710 to 1782 the Court was the home to Sir Isaac Newton's Royal Society and its museum, which housed a collection of marvels including a bone said to be taken from a mermaid's head.
No 9 housed Punch magazine for more than 100 years from 1841.
Crane Court Gallery, at No 3, has been set up in this long tradition of providing the discerning public with thought-provoking and imaginative arrays of art, objects and culture.
The Gallery
The space consists of 4 separate gallery and entertaining floors, plus a roof terrace, and a basement vault.
The gallery's mission is to function as an arts and culture meeting point for City workers, residents and visitors alike, showcasing diverse and talented groups of artists with a regular programme of group shows, solo shows, exhibitions that speak to specific mediums and interests, and collaborations with other galleries and collectives.
Gallery exhibitions and events will take place over the whole space, or on individual floors. Space will additionally be used for hosting cultural and educational events, artists in residence, workshops and further cultural happenings.
Commitment to art in public spaces
Beyond the gallery itself an ambitious programme of public sculpture is planned for the surrounding area. We are working with local authorities and other landowners and stakeholders in promoting and curating individual and group settings of art work suitable and exciting to be shown in public spaces.
Gallery hire
The gallery forms an important feature of the local business and tourist landscape as a destination for all those who seek to enjoy the vibrancy and cultural history of the City of London.
The entire gallery or individual floors - both during and in between exhibitions - are available to hire. With a range of catering options available, the space lends itself perfectly to businesses and professionals in the surrounding area for meetings, seminars, networking events, receptions and private dinners.
