Ann Coomber explores how abstract forms and natural objects contain or embody complex narratives, ideas, and personal or collective memories.

Ann Coomber (b.1954, London) is a sculptor from the Scottish Highlands, who creates sculptures from stone and wood, materials which store memories of archaic landscapes and seasons. Coomber explores how abstract forms and natural objects contain or embody complex narratives, ideas, and personal or collective memories. Taking organic or biological forms as a starting point, Coomber gradually develops, simplifies and abstracts - connecting with, and channelling, her own direct, emotional and instinctive responses to the world around her.
