Marco Arias is a London-based visual artist and musician whose work explores Latin American cultural identity and its intersections with contemporary global imagery. Blending personal and collective memory, he delves into the emotional connections between human experience and mass media dynamics. Documenting his daily life through diaries, sketchbooks, voice notes, photographs, and screenshots, Arias builds a personal archive that serves as the foundation for his practice-primarily focused on painting but also encompassing sculpture, video, and installation.
Arias completed the Turps Studio Programme (London, UK) from 2020 to 2023-where he now serves as a mentor-and earned a Master's degree in Visual Arts from the University of Chile in 2018. His solo exhibition ADIOSPIKACHU was presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago (2021-2022). His work has been exhibited across South America, Europe, and Asia, with features in international media and academic publications spanning Chile, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Sweden, and Finland.
He currently directs the Chilean Visual Arts Group (CVAG) in the UK, an organisation that collaborates with the Embassy of Chile and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2022, he has also collaborated with Hauser & Wirth gallery.
